If you really want to earn online, the first warning you should be given is to avoid scams. There is plenty of these in the Internet and if you fall to any of these you are not going to earn online. Instead you are going to lose both your money and time in this kind of work.

What Scams Are

Scams are programs which will use you in order that they can take advantage of your money and time. They usually promise you big gains and for you to get these big gains they will require you to pay something. If you pay, you will never get back your payment or the big gains they promised.

There are scams that start out free. They will let you register for free. Then before you get to see their actual program you will be given an OTO or One Time Offer. This may be an e-book (electronic book which you can read by downloading it to your computer) or another program which offers you more gain or helps you to gain some more money. It you reject this One Time Offer you will usually be given another offer of a lower price with less benefits. If you still reject this a still lower price may be offered. Then if you still refuse you will be shown now the actual program. Of course, there are good programs, not scams, which use OTOs. But scams also use this approach.

If you sign up for a free program, you may be told right there and then or later that your free program will not really earn you much. The owner of the program will offer you an upgraded version of it, this time with a fee. Because of the promised greater income if you upgrade, you may be lured to give the payment through your credit or debit card or through a payment processor like paypal which also has to be used in conjunction with a credit card. Then you promote this program day after day, week after week until you discover you can no longer login to your members’ area. So you write to the owner or staff of this program but there will be no answer. You have been scammed.

How To Detect a Scam

How can you stay away from such scams when in the first place you did not know they were scams?

There is a way but it may time your time. What you do is before registering in a program you copy and paste its program name to a google search space. (If you are unfamiliar with this, open your browser by clicking the icon or small image of Internet Explorer or of Mozilla Firefox or of whatever browser your computer may have, then type google.com on the top rectangular bar, after deleting all the letters, numbers and figures there and then after you write these letters google.com, you press the Enter key of your computer. An empty rectangle somewhere in the middle of your computer screen will appear with the word “Google Search” below). Type or copy and paste the name of the program on the space above “Google Search”, then put a space, then type the word scam, then press your Enter key. An example of this may be “www.earnfast.com scam”. (The underlining is not there when you type, there is no need to underline.) There will be a list of websites with brief description of the program whether it is a scam or not. Read the full explanation by clicking the first line. After reading you can decide whether it is a scam or not.

You see, there are several programs also in the Internet which study and monitor these scams. They write reviews of these programs and give their reasons why they think such and such programs are scams or not. Usually they will tell you the IP address of a program which is a scam and tell you that other programs using this IP address are also scams. (IP means Internet Protocol. It is the computer address, not a postal or residential address, of a certain program.)

Some scams will not force you to upgrade, like PTR or Pay To Read programs. You can see your earnings online and they tell you that after your earnings reach a certain amount, let’s say $10,000, the earnings will be sent to you after 30 days or so. When you reach this amount, you naturally request for the earnings, but they may no longer reply or they may ask you for another requirement like turning in some email addresses of friends. After you comply with that requirement they may require another or you may never hear from them again. You have been scammed of your time. In the meantime you will receive another offer from them but this time the name of the program is different. They can write to you because you have given them your email address. They will then begin another cycle of scam with you.

Scams Usually Do Not Have Forums

Also look for forums of the program. If a program has no forum, most probably it is a scam. A forum is a place in the Internet where people of like mind gather to discuss issues, including problems related to that program. Naturally if a scam has a forum people there will discuss that it is a scam. That is why scams usually do not have forums. They do not provide a place for people to discuss that they are scams.
